As the global transition to clean energy gathers pace, Ayodeji Stephen argues that Africa’s vast renewable potential positions it to become a global powerhouse in green hydrogen. With abundant solar and wind resources, he believes the continent can drive industrial decarbonisation, strengthen energy security and generate millions of new jobs.

  • Mr Ayodeji is the Founder of HydroGEM Energy Advisory, a company focused on hydrogen and electric mobility projects.

  • He cautions, however, that this opportunity will only be realised if Africa overcomes key challenges in financing, infrastructure and policy coherence. Addressing these issues, he says, is essential to attract investment and build a competitive, inclusive hydrogen economy.
